Manager/Supervisor
We are seeking an experienced Safety and Compliance Manager for Rosenbach Freight to lead safety initiatives and ensure full regulatory compliance across our trucking operations. This critical leadership role is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs that protect our drivers, fleet, and the public while maintaining strict adherence to FMCSA, DOT, and state regulations. The ideal candidate is a proactive safety professional with deep knowledge of the trucking industry who can drive a strong safety culture while minimizing risk and ensuring operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
• Ensure full compliance with FMCSA, DOT, OSHA, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
• Manage and maintain the company’s DOT safety rating and CSA (Compliance, Safety, Accountability) scores.
• Oversee preparation for, and response to, FMCSA audits, DOT inspections, and insurance audits.
• Maintain accurate records for driver qualification files (DQFs), drug & alcohol testing, and Hours of Service (HOS) compliance.
• Monitor and implement changes to safety regulations, updating company policies and procedures accordingly.
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve the company’s Safety Management System (SMS).
• Lead accident/incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Manage the driver safety training program, including new-hire orientation, annual training, and remedial training.
• Oversee vehicle maintenance compliance, including annual inspections, PM schedules, and out-of-service repairs.
• Administer the company’s drug and alcohol testing program in accordance with FMCSA regulations.
• Conduct regular safety meetings, road observations, and terminal audits.
• Analyze safety data and trends to identify improvement opportunities and reduce accidents.
• Manage workers’ compensation claims and return-to-work programs in coordination with HR.
• Work closely with insurance providers to maintain favorable premiums and coverage.
• Prepare and present monthly safety and compliance reports to senior leadership.
• Develop and enforce safe driving policies and behavioral expectations.
• Supervise safety and compliance staff (if applicable).
• Serve as the primary point of contact for drivers, operations, and management on safety-related matters.
Qualifications & Requirements
Required:
• Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in transportation safety and compliance, preferably in trucking or logistics.
• In-depth knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT rules, Hours of Service, ELD systems, and CSA scoring.
• Strong understanding of accident investigation techniques and root cause analysis.
• Experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and fleet management systems.
• Proven ability to develop and maintain a strong safety culture.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
Preferred:
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or similar certification.
• Experience with CDL driver training and qualification processes.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Transportation, Business, or a related field (preferred). Equivalent work experience will be considered.
